Earn CEUs from NRRTS, Darren Hammond to Present

You can earn .2 CEU from the National Registry of Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers (NRRTS). NRRTS will be hosting a webinar every two weeks, beginning June 21, 2011 and running until December. The webinars are designed for CRTSs, RRTSs, ATPs and physical and occupational therapists (advanced or intermediate). The webinars will be broadcast for respective Pacific and Eastern time zones. The CEUs will be certified by The University of Pittsburgh.

Darren Hammond, MPT, CWS, The ROHO Group’s Senior Director of the ROHO Institute will be presenting one of the webinars on July 21, 2011. The webinar is titled Pressure Sore Management and will run from 5–7 p.m. EDT. You must register by July 18 to participate.

The ROHO Group Employees To Present at the 2011 International Seating Symposium

Five employees of The ROHO Group will present at the 2011 International Seating Symposium. The programs will cover clinically relevant cushion characteristics, pressure mapping guidelines and the wheelchair cushion selection process.

BELLEVILLE, Ill., (March 1, 2011) — The ROHO Group, manufacturer of support surface products for medical and consumer applications, will have four staff members presenting at the 2011 International Seating Symposium in Nashville, TN March 3-5 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center.

The International Seating Symposium is hosted by the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and includes research, training and exhibition halls regarding wheeled mobility and seating and solutions for people with disabilities. The audience is primarily clinicians, medical manufacturers, rehab equipment suppliers and educators.

University of Pittsburgh School of Health and Rehabilitation Science will award Continuing Education Units for select educational activities. Up to 1.6 CEUs will be awarded to those attending 16 hours of training.

Pat Meeker, Senior Director of Global Sales, will present the program, ISO Pressure Mapping Clinical Guidelines — Combining Expertise and Evidence, along with Kimberly Davis from ATECH Services. The program will be held from 1-3 p.m. on March 3 and will discuss the standardized evidence-based guidelines for Interface Pressure Mapping, IPM, as deemed by the International Standards Organization.

Darren Hammond, MPT, CWS, Senior Director of Training and Education, and Tricia Henley, MPT, ATP, Clinical Applications Manager, will present the program, Choosing The Best Cushion: How Do We Really Get There?, along with Sharon Pratt from Sunrise Medical. The program will be held from 1-3 p.m. on March 3 and will discuss how to assess the differences among seating support surfaces using scientific principles. It will cover the various materials and design methods used to construct cushions.

Dave McCausland, Senior Vice President of Planning and Government Affairs, will present the program, Investigating Clinically Relevant Cushion Characteristics via Laboratory Testing, along with Mark Greig of Sunrise Medical. The program will be from 10:45-11:45 a.m. on March 4. The program will discuss the development of clinically relevant, laboratory test methods to clearly determine the positioning and skin integrity characteristics of a cushion, and the cushion’s ability to be adjusted and maintain similar performance, even when changes to weight and/or shape occur.

Bart Van der Heyden, PT, Director of European Training and Education, will present the program, The Changing Perception Towards Disability and Wheelchair Users And Its Impact on Seating Interventions And AT Provision, from 10:45-11:45 a.m. on March 4. The program will discuss how the different views on disability have created disparities among seating assessments in multiple care facilities.

The ROHO Group will also have a booth (booth 610) in the exhibition hall to showcase new products and answer any questions.
