(July 28, 2011) — The ROHO Group, manufacturer of support surface products for medical and consumer applications, will serve as a National Sponsor for the 31st National Veterans Wheelchair Games being held in Pittsburgh, PA, August 1–6, 2011. This marks the 26th consecutive year that The ROHO Group has generously supported the Games.
“The ROHO Group is extremely proud to be one of only two continuous sponsors of the National Veterans Wheelchair Games since 1985,” said Robert W. Graebe, CEO of The ROHO Group. “Our active involvement and support reflects our admiration of all participants for their dedication, enthusiasm and athletic abilities. We are pleased each year to join other prominent sponsors in recognizing the contribution of America’s veterans to our country, our democracy and our freedom.”
The National Veterans Wheelchair Games, presented annually by Paralyzed Veterans and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), are open to all U.S. military veterans who use wheelchairs for sports competition as a result of spinal cord injury, certain neurological conditions, amputations or other mobility impairments. The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System and Keystone Chapter Paralyzed Veterans of America will host the 2011 Games.
Veterans at the Games will compete in 17 events: swimming, table tennis, weightlifting, archery, air guns, basketball, nine ball, softball, quad rugby, bowling, handcycling, wheelchair slalom, power soccer, a motorized wheelchair rally, track and field and trapshooting. Athletes compete in all events against others with similar athletic ability, competitive experience or age. Sixty-five years ago, Paralyzed Veterans of America was founded by a band of spinal cord injured service members who returned home from World War II to a grateful nation, but also to a world with few solutions to the challenges they faced. These veterans from the “Greatest Generation” made a decision not just to live, but to live with dignity as contributors to society. They created an organization dedicated to veterans’ service, medical research and civil rights for people with disabilities. And for more than six decades, Paralyzed Veterans of America and its 34 chapters have been working to create an America where all veterans, and people with disabilities, and their families, have everything they need to thrive. The ROHO Group’s CFO Jeff Baker, Sr. Director of Global Sales Support Lynette Schanuel and President Tom Borcherding accept the Illinois Governor’s Export Award for Exporter of the Year for Medium-Sized Businesses.
BELLEVILLE, Ill., (July 1, 2011) — The ROHO Group, Inc., an Illinois-based manufacturer of support surface products for medical and consumer applications, has been named the recipient of the Illinois Governor’s Export Award for Exporter of the Year for Medium-Sized Businesses. The annual Illinois Governor’s Export Awards honor Illinois-based businesses for export achievement.
Illinois legislature created the awards that are presented by Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Office of Trade and Investment. The awards are based on a variety of criteria including export sales, export sales growth, international marketing strategies and multi-lingual and cultural efforts. The Governor’s Export Awards are part of Illinois Export Week that is designed to help companies find answers and advice on exporting.
“While the Illinois Governor’s Export Award for Exporter of the Year award showcases our success in building the ROHO brand on a global scale, it is really a testament to the associates of ROHO,” The ROHO Group President Tom Borcherding said. “They have been the foundation of the company’s success for more than 35 years. Our associates, along with our business partners throughout the world are the true recipients of this exciting award.”
Robert H. Graebe founded The ROHO Group, a family-owned company, in 1973 located in Belleville, Ill. The company’s brand names, ROHO® and AIRHAWK™, are recognized globally as brand leaders in wheelchair and motorcycle seating, respectively. The products are made in the company’s Belleville manufacturing facility.
More than 55 percent of The ROHO Group’s total company revenues are from export sales in more than 60 international markets. In April 2010, The ROHO Group received its largest single order in company history for more than 10,000 ROHO QUADTRO SELECT® Cushions from a Latin American country. The ROHO Group continues to invest heavily in international business development and export activities.
